Helpful holiday tips and exciting news from Heiser Toyota

With the holidays coming up, many people will be taking to the roads to celebrate with relatives, some in Wisconsin and some across the country. It is important to make sure your vehicle is ready for those trips. Here are some tips for making sure your vehicle is ready for your holiday travel plans:

· Check your tire pressure. If all your tires are about the same PSI (pounds per square inch) and they're low, fill them up with air at your local Heiser Dealership. Under-inflated tires not only decrease fuel economy, but also are more likely to have blowouts.

· Check your tire tread depth. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, your tread depth is dangerous if lower than 2/32 of an inch.

· Have your battery checked. Don't rely on how your car sounds or feels when it starts up. Take it to your local Heiser dealership and have the battery tested.

· Make sure all of your fluids are full, including wiper fluid, transmission fluid, brake fluid and coolant fluid.

· Make sure your headlights, tail lights, brake lights and windshield wipers are all operable. Make sure your regularly scheduled maintenance check and oil change is up to date, or will still be on schedule even after you put that extra mileage on your car over the holidays.

The Prius Goes Plural & Gives Back:
As the Prius goes plural they are giving back to the community via Toys for Tots. Fans of the Prius can help deliver more toys to children across the country by visiting their Facebook page. Facebook Fans, once they like the Prius page can begin giving. Each person can pick a virtual Toy to donate to fill the Prius V. For every virtual toy placed in the Prius V trunk, Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., will donate $5 to Toys for Tots up to a maximum of $100,000. Each Facebook fan can donate a virtual toy once a day.

Prius family receives rewards:

Toyota Motor Company has a lot to celebrate via GreenCarReports.com naming the 2012 Toyota Prius family of vehicles as its “Best Green Car to Buy 2012.” Beginning with the 2012 model year, the Prius will expand to a family of four vehicles, including the third-generation Prius Lift back, the Prius v, the Prius Plug-in Hybrid, and the Prius c.

GreenCarReports editors choose the most significant new “green” car available to shoppers during the 2012 model year, taking into account new technologies, their practicality, and their impact on the environment. The GreenCarReports’ “Best Green Car to Buy” award recognizes mass-market, environmentally sensitive vehicles that are available below $60,000. Utilizing the TheCarConnection’s ratings as a starting point for their evaluation, the GreenCarReports editorial team applies their criteria to select the winner that will carry the “Best Green Car to Buy 2012” environmental message.

Great things are being stirred up this fall at Heiser Toyota with the 2012 Toyota Prius V as well as great deals on maintenance to prepare your vehicle for winter.

For the next two months you can help Heiser Ford Lincoln support local schools through a partnership with General Mills popular, Box Tops for Education (BTFE) program

Ford, the first automotive company to partner with General Mills on its Box Tops Education initiative, kicked off a two-month program on October 3rd, which aims to generate $1 million in support for schools throughout the U.S.

"Our dealership has participated in programs like drive one 4 UR school which have garnered more popularity year after year," said Chris Meyer Heiser Ford Lincoln General Manager. "With Box Tops for Education we have opportunity to help even more kids in out community than ever before."

"Since the company started, Ford has always looked for ways to support our country's young people and their education," said Jim Farley, Group Vice President, Global marketing and sales, services. “We are delighted to be the first automotive company to partner with General Mills on Box Tops for Education because it provides us as a unique way to reach and help students across the whole country."

Ford has taken General Mills' consumer fundraising efforts and evolved it so Ford vehicle owners and shoppers can now easily participate and generate funds to support their local schools. Starting October 3rd, participants can earn and collect box tops for there local schools in three new ways. They can request a brochure from the official Ford/BTFE program website at www.FordDrivesBoxTops.com; watch product videos on the program website; or purchase a ford vehicle at Heiser Ford Lincoln, during October and November.

During the two-month "Ford Drives Box Top" Sweepstakes, Ford will provide sweepstakes winners with eBoxTops, which will be automatically credited to the school of there choice. Five 10,000 Box Top prizes worth $1000.00 and one 20,000 Box Top prizes worth $20,000 will be given to the BTFE- eligible school of the winner's choice at the end of the sweepstakes. Schools can use money in anyway choose.

FILLING A VITAL NEED:

As schools struggle to find funding, local communities are turning to corporate programs such Box Top for Education and Ford's Drive One 4 UR School program to fill budget gaps.

Through the first nine months of this year alone, Ford has donated $1.8 million to U.S schools through its Ford's Drive One 4 UR School program, with student test-drives sky rocketing more than 600 percent. During the first four years of the program combined, the program generated $5.5 million.

FORD AND EDUCATION:

Supporting education has been a key tenant of Ford since the company's inception. Through its history, Ford has created a variety of programs dedicated to improving schools in communities across America, donating more than $100 million to education in just the past 15 years.

The Drive One 4 UR School program was developed as a fun, engaging way to help high schools raise money to support their sports and extracurricular activates. Ford and Lincoln Dealerships partner with local High Schools to conduct test-drive fund raising events. For every valid Test-drive completed, Ford Motor Company will donate $20.00 to the participating high school, up to $6,000. Since the program's inception in 2007, more than $7 million in funds have been donated to high schools nationwide.

The Ford Motor Company Fund and community services program works with community partners to advance driving safety, education and America heritage and Community life. The fund has been in operation for more than 60 years, and in 2010, nearly $19 million in donations were contributed to education materials, customized in-school events and an interactive web site.

ABOUT BOX TOPS EDUCATION:

General Mills' Box Tops for Education program offers families easy, everyday ways to earn cash for their designated school. The program started in 1996 and over the past 15 years, more than 90,000 schools have earned over $400 million through Box Tops for Education, including more than $59 million last year.

eBoxTops are electronic credits that are made directly to the BTFE-eligible school by General Mills, equivalent to 10 cents for each eBoxTops credit. Schools can earn up to $60,000 per year, up to $20,000 respectively from the clip, Box Tops Marketplace, and Reading Room program components, to spend on things they need most. Bryan Bulaga is back in action with the Heiser Automotive Group in Milwaukee.

As the NFL resumes operations & the Packers start their training camp, Super Bowl Champion Bryan Bulaga is returning to the Heiser Automotive Group team. Heiser Automotive Group is proud of their partner

Bryan Bulaga and his starting of his 2^nd season with the Green Bay Packers. Bulaga has had a historic rookie year. On January 6, 2010, Bulaga released a statement about his intentions to skip his final season of eligibility entering the 2010 NFL Draft. With the 23rd pick in the 2010 NFL Draft, the Green Bay Packers selected Bulaga. Bulaga joins Marmion Academy Alum and San Diego Chargers OLB Larry English as the second first round draft pick from the Suburban Christian Conference in two back to back years.

As part of the Heiser Team, Bryan has made a significant impact in helping prove, “Anything’s Possible.” During the first press conference Bryan announced his triumphant beginning with Heiser. Bryan stated when asked what he plans to bring to the Heiser Automotive Group, “at first (I) will bring a strong work ethic, and greater level of competition.” In their first competition, Bryan & Mary Ann proved that they can be just as competitive as each other. Bualga had a successful career as the rookie Green Bay Packer. Head Coach Mike McCarthy has agreed. As quote by the official Green Bay Packers news room, “It’s a testament to Bryan,” McCarthy stated. “He’s talented, he’s tough, and he’s doing things the right way.” Bulaga began the 2010 season as a back-up. He has worked hard throughout his Packer career competing with many veteran Packers on a variety of positions. He got his first start in week 5 at the Washington Redskins.

Bryan also helped us prove “Anything’s Possible” though out Heiser’s “Huddle Up For Hunger initiatives. During the 2010 Holiday season Heiser Automotive Group gave back to Milwaukee. Heiser teamed up with the Hunger Task Force and the Gathering to create Heiser’s “Huddle Up For Hunger” campaign. Through this initiative all five Heiser locations were Hunger Task Force designated drop off stations for non-perishable food items. To see the official video for this great cause, click here.

Heiser is flying with the 2011 Milwaukee Air & Water Show

Heiser Automotive Group is proud to be a part of the 2011 Milwaukee Air & Water Show. The Air & Water Show is now Milwaukee's largest free event for the general public, and the most recognized family-oriented event. We are thrilled to be a part of this event that supports countywide efforts to promote the Lakefront as well as the new and improved Bradford Beach.

The Air Show begins daily at 3:00PM on both Saturday and Sunday. The Water Show is scheduled daily, beginning at 10:00AM. The Air Show is a free event for the general public. However, they now offer four levels of reserved seating and parking at the event’s center-point, offering prime viewing of the air and water show. Tickets and passes may be purchased on the home page of their website: http://www.milwaukeeairshow.com/. There are many parking lots available at the lakefront. The best parking locations are along Lincoln Memorial Drive, between Veteran's Park, and north to Bradford Beach.

The program is the same both days (Saturday & Sunday); they do not have a schedule that shows exactly when each air show act performs. The air show schedule is primarily determined by the air show director and the pilots during the day of the event, taking weather into consideration. You can count on the headliners (such as the Thunderbirds or Blue Angels) performing last, and usually at the top of the hour.

There will be many exhibits, sponsor displays, military recruiting areas, simulator rides, real jet cockpits, and other special attractions at the Air Show. Heiser Automotive Group will be located near the concert stage. Come say hello, see the latest cars we have to offer, and get your automotive questions answered.

This summer Heiser is dedicated to giving the best advice Milwaukee has to offer in vehicle maintenance. It is important to remember that the hotter months of the year can be brutal on your car. According to Forbes.com, “… 8.7 million cars will break down sometime between Memorial Day and Labor Day." It is important to plan ahead; here's how you can prepare. Before your big summer vacation make sure to visit your local Southeastern Wisconsin Heiser Automotive Group mechanic. Make sure a technician tops off the windshield-wiper fluid, changes the oil and checks the brake fluid before you depart. The air conditioning solvents should also be in good working order and checked. When you hit the road, also drive safely and within the speed limit. Forbes.com states: “Rapidly accelerating and braking reduces gas mileage by a third; changing speed at sensible rates can boost fuel economy by 5% in the city and 33% on the highway. That's the same as saving $0.14 per gallon in the city and $0.94 per gallon on the highway.” Removing extra items from your trunk will also help your gas mileage. Rotating your tires and putting nitrogen in your tire will help save you money at the pump as well. Nitrogen is a smart choice for the environment because it leaks from tires at a slower rate than air, so tires stay inflated longer at full capacity, which helps a vehicle get better gas mileage. Heiser Automotive Group has had a rich history with Southeastern Wisconsin, where we have been blessed with growth and many great opportunities. Thus, as 2009 approached we created the slogan “Anything’s Possible” to show to both our long time and new customer’s that great things are possible when you are a part of such a wonderful Milwaukee community.

One of the ways we have done this is through community involvement. We have been honored to be a part of some great events such as the 2011 Walk for Autism Speaks, MDA initiatives, and hosting an annual blood drive at one of our Milwaukee Dealerships. The 2011 Walk for Autism Speaks fundraised over $135,000 for increasing awareness of autism spectrum disorders, to funding research into the causes, prevention and treatments for autism, and to advocating for the needs of individuals with autism and their families. Preps Plus has been another avenue that we have been pleased to be associated with. Starting in 2010, Heiser Automotive Group created the Preps Plus scholarship. Each year, we will be giving out 2 college scholarships. Students will be continued to be picked based on involvement in school and/or community activities, academic success, and a unique need or special situation. As time goes on we look forward to be a part of even more community initiatives.

Also, in the last two years all five Heiser Automotive Group locations have had renewed dedication to our customers. As a result we continuously are working to make each experience a great one. February is an exciting month because of the Greater Milwaukee Auto Show. Heiser Automotive Group is excited to be a part of such a great annual event. Representatives from all Heiser Automotive Group locations will be there to help answer your questions and show you some of the great vehicles at both the new vehicle display and preowned section of the show.

Located at the Frontier Airlines Center, formerly the Midwest Airlines Center, this year’s show has proven to be the best yet!

Greater Milwaukee Auto Show Discounts & Promotions

Special Displays at the Auto Show
This year’s Greater Milwaukee Auto Show has many great sites to see. One of which is the Harley-Davidson Museum exhibit. You’ll get a glimpse of American culture and history like you’ve never seen it before. By stopping by this display you’ll learn more about how four young men from Milwaukee’s west side built a worldwide phenomenon. The display will include some of the important and unusual vehicles, artifacts and images from Harley-Davidson’s rich history.

Another unique experience attendees should enjoy is the “Chevrolet, Buick, GMC – Experience the Drive Ride & Drive” exhibit. More than a dozen new model vehicles will be available for test drives including the Chevrolet Camaro, Chevrolet Silverado, Buick Enclave, GMC Yukon Denali Hybrid and more. Ride and drive hours Friday, March 4 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday, March 5 and Sunday, March 6 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Two other experiences for families to enjoy at the Greater Milwaukee Auto show include Hollywood’s Hottest Wheels & the Milwaukee Bucks Experience. Attendees can check out some of the most recognizable vehicles from blockbuster movies to hit TV shows, courtesy of the Volo Auto Museum. Heiser Automotive Group & Super Bowl XLV

February has become a month to remember with the historic blizzard of 2011 and the Green Bay Packers’ Super Bowl XLV win.

On February 1st through 2nd Southeastern Wisconsin experienced a historic blizzard. The blizzard dumped almost 2 feet of snow in some spots, paralyzing much of the southern part of the state. Heiser Automotive Group’s corporate location received 17 inches of snow. Peak wind gusts were recorded at 54 mph in Milwaukee and snowdrifts reached as high as 10 feet. All five Heiser locations worked diligently following the storm and opened shortly after the snow fall ended.

Heiser Automotive Group is proud of their partner Bryan Bulaga and his celebrated first season with the Green Bay Packers. Bulaga has had a historic rookie career. On January 6, 2010, Bulaga released a statement about his intentions to skip his final season of eligibility entering the 2010 NFL Draft. With the 23rd pick in the 2010 NFL Draft, the Green Bay Packers selected Bulaga. Bulaga joins Marmion Academy Alum and San Diego Chargers OLB Larry English as the second first round draft pick from the Suburban Christian Conference in two back to back years.

Bualga has had a successful career as the rookie Green Bay Packer. Head Coach Mike McCarthy has agreed. As quote by the official Green Bay Packers news room, “It’s a testament to Bryan,” McCarthy stated. “He’s talented, he’s tough, and he’s doing things the right way.” Bulaga began the 2010 season as a back-up. He has worked hard throughout his Packer career competing with many veteran Packers on a variety of positions. He got his first start in week 5 at the Washington Redskins. He went on to start every game the rest of the season, eventually being named to the official NFL All-Rookie team.

Heiser Automotive Group is proud of our Heiser team member Bryan Bulaga and all he has accomplished throughout his first season. We look forward to cheering him on for years to come.

Anything’s Possible This Holiday Season

This month Heiser Automotive Group has been getting into the holiday spirit and focusing on giving back to the Milwaukee community.

Heiser is blessed and thankful to be located in great communities throughout Southeastern Wisconsin. However, thirty percent of Milwaukee lives in poverty. That’s why Heiser has decided to team up with the Hunger Task Force and The Gathering to create Heiser’s “Huddle Up For Hunger” campaign. Through this initiative all five Heiser locations are Hunger Task Force designated drop off stations for non-perishable food items. Heiser will also donate a food item with any customer oil change to the Hunger Task Force. As part of Heiser’s partnership with The Gathering, they are donation meals for ten needy Milwaukee area families with every purchase of a new or preowned vehicle. The giving continues to each client as well. Included with every new or preowned vehicle purchase Heiser will be giving a holiday turkey dinner with all the trimmings. In addition, Heiser is hosting their first annual blood drive at their Heiser Ford Lincoln Mercury in Glendale on Wednesday, December 15th from 2:00PM- 5:00PM. It is the season for giving. Heiser wants to help give a gift that really matters, the gift of helping save someone’s life. Every three seconds, someone in our community needs blood. By giving blood, donors have the opportunity to save lives. Donating blood is a quick, easy, and safe way to help give the gift of life.

This basketball season Heiser is proud to cheer on the Marquette University Golden Eagles. As part of the Golden Eagles’ basketball season Heiser has created the “Half Court Challenge.” On November 15th, Ryan Agnew gave Marquette University basketball fans a good send off to their matchup with No. 1 Duke in the Semi's of CBE Classic. This fall Heiser Automotive Group is having a spook-tacular October with Halloween fun, Prep’s Plus excitement, and a head-to-head competition with me verses Bryan Bulaga.

To celebrate the Halloween season, Heiser Automotive Group is looking forward to some spooky and fun Milwaukee events. Many things are happening throughout the city, including trick-or-treating. Typically trick-or-treating in Milwaukee will be occurring the weekend of October 29th through October 31st. Remember to turn on your porch light during trick-or-treat hours! Many communities now ask that participating households do this and ask trick-or-treaters to only visit these homes or those decorated for Halloween.

Also for the second year in a row, Heiser Automotive Group is sponsoring “Preps Plus.” Heiser has decided to participate in a segment that illustrates that “Anything’s Possible" on the field, in the classroom and within the community. Preps Plus is a full 30-minute produced program on WTMJ TV (NBC affiliate) September 12, 2010 through April 10, 2011. It highlights a variety of Wisconsin boys and girls high school sports excitement.

Finally, the competition is on between First Round Draft Choice Bryan Bulaga and I. Bryan and I have official announced that Bryan is a part of the Heiser family at a recent press conference. Bryan stated when asked what he plans to bring to the Heiser Automotive Group, “at first (I) will bring a strong work ethic, and greater level of competition.” In their first competition, I proved that I can be just as competitive as Bryan by out throwing him on the football field. For the second year in a row, Heiser Automotive Group has decided to sponsor “Preps Plus.” This year we’ve decided to participate in a segment that illustrates that “Anything’s Possible" on the field, in the classroom and within the community.

What is "Preps Plus?"

Preps Plus is a full 30-minute produced program covering Wisconsin high school sports on WTMJ TV (NBC affiliate) September 12, 2010 through April 10, 2011. Preps Plus airs Sunday evenings immediately following WTMJ-TV’s (Channel 4 NBC affiliate) on the 10PM newscast. The Host of the show is Milwaukee Journal Sentinel Senior Sports Editor Garry Howard. Preps Plus highlights a variety of Wisconsin boys and girls high school sports excitement. In addition, to Preps Plus airing on Channel 4 every week, it will also air weekly on Time Warner Cable’s Sports 32 Mondays 6:30-7:00 pm and Wednesdays 4:00-4:30 pm.

Heiser Automotive Group's History

Heiser Automotive Group is one of Wisconsin’s longest and most successful established automobile dealership groups. They have new vehicle franchises for Ford, Lincoln Mercury, Toyota, Scion, Chevrolet, and Cadillac.

The Heiser organization was co-founded in 1918 by Walter Heiser. The original dwelling, located on 7th and Wisconsin Avenues, sold Model T Fords for $345. People traded in their carriages, wagons, even horses towards the purchase of their first car.

Heiser earned a reputation of integrity during the post-war vehicle shortage. Heiser maintained a strict “first come, first served” delivery list, which was not easy to adhere to. When mass production resumed and vehicles were plentiful, customers remained loyal. Also, during the three years before World War I, Heiser was responsible for one quarter of Milwaukee Ford Sales.

Here is a brief time line of Heiser’s history:

Pre-1917: Walter M. Heiser was employed by Ford Motor Company at the factory showroom located on the corner of Prospect Avenue and Kenilworth Avenue, on Milwaukee’s East Side (Now UWM.s housing for graduate students).

March 1917: Mr. Heiser and Mr. Knetter established Knetter-Heiser Ford, on State Street, between Milwaukee Street and Broadway Street. A short time after, they moved the dealership to 51st Street and Lisbon Avenue, on Milwaukee’s West Side.

1932: The dealership moved briefly to Lisbon Avenue before settling in 1932 on North and Prospect Avenue after Mr. Heiser bought out Mr. Knetter’s interest in the dealership. The dealership remained at this intersection for seventy years.

1938: Mr. Walter Andrews came on with Heiser as the General Manager, and was a key to their continued success.

1973: Walter Heiser Retired. Scaffidi, who was then the Used Car Manager, purchased the company’s stock with the help of the Office Manager, the late Milton Berdelman, and the Sales Manager and son of the founder, William Heiser.

1977: Heiser bought Galls Lincoln-Mercury in Menomonee Falls. It was unusual for Ford Motor Company to allow one dealer to have two franchises in the same city, but Scaffidi persisted, and it paid off.

1980: Several years after buying Galls Lincoln-Mercury, Heiser opened a Toyota Dealership in Thiensville. After McBain Lincoln-Mercury went out of business, the Heiser Company bought the building and moved their Lincoln-Mercury dealership from Menomonee Falls to North 76th Street. They proceeded to build a new building to house the Toyota dealership on 76th Street.

1986: Heiser purchased an additional Ford franchise and built Northpoint Ford on 76th Street. Heiser Toyota also moved from Thiensville to 7800N. 76th Street.

1990: Heiser purchased Selig Chevrolet in West Allis.

2002: Heiser Ford built a new building and moved to Silver Spring and Green Bay.

2003: Heiser Ford moved from Prospect & North Ave. and relocated at 1700 W. Silver Spring Drive in Glendale.

2005: Heiser purchased Heiser Chevrolet Cadillac in West Bend.

2006: Heiser Toyota moved to 11301 W. Metro Blvd. Milwaukee, WI

2007: Heiser Lincoln Mercury merged with Heiser Ford to form Heiser Ford Lincoln Mercury.

2008: Northpoint Ford moved into the old Heiser Toyota building on 76th Street and the Corporate and Central Offices relocated to Heiser Ford.

Heiser strives to focus on keeping long-term relationships with all customers, not just one-time transactions. At Heiser, we are strong believers in the fact that trust is built on performance. That is exactly what Heiser is working on in different departments of the dealership. All customers should be treated with integrity and care; Heiser makes a point to show that customers matter and is trying to improve even more in this area. With summer well on its way Heiser Automotive Group has been heating up all five Metro-Milwaukee locations with exciting news and great deals, such as the addition of Green Bay Packer player Bryan Bulaga to the Heiser team, excellent HeiserHasIt.com savings, and the introduction of Heiser to Facebook.

Bryan Bulaga is the latest addition to the Green Bay Packer and Heiser Automotive Group teams. As a football player Bulaga has been known for excellence. One of the more athletic big men eligible for the 2010 NFL Draft, Bulaga's versatility as a prep star made him one of the most sought after recruits coming out of high school. After playing four different positions at Marion Central High School, he began his Iowa career as a left offensive guard. As one of the most talented young athletes the university has seen, the coaching staff decided to insert him into the starting lineup midway through the 2007 campaign. On January 6, 2010, Bulaga released a statement about his intentions to enter the 2010 NFL Draft. With the 23rd pick in the 2010 NFL Draft, the Green Bay Packers selected Bulaga.

This summer Bulaga joined the Heiser Automotive Group team. With its the Ford Fiesta has a lot to offer and is a worthy opponent to its competitors the Toyota Yaris and the Honda Fit. Therefore to truly see how it compares it is important to examine the three in terms of trim levels, special features, gas mileage and to also take a look at the reviews of each vehicle.

FORD FIESTA SPECIAL FEATURES:

Some special features for the Fiesta include: the EasyFuel Capless Fuel Filler, Securilock passive anti-theft ignition system, SOS Post-Crash Alert System, and the AdvanceTrac electronic stability control. The EasyFuel Capless Fuel filter is a convenience feature. When the door is closed the system seals shut automatically. This helps prevent the check-engine light from illuminating needlessly, and eliminates worries about leaving the gas cap behind at the station. The Securilock passive anti-theft system is an engine immobilization system specifically designed for Ford vehicles. This system is designed to prevent the engine from being started unless a coded key programmed to your vehicle is used. Another Ford exclusive feature, the SOS Post- Crash Alert System is designed so that when the air bags are deployed, the vehicle will unlock all of its doors, turn on the 4 way flashers and sound the horn. The final Ford exclusive feature is the AdvanceTrac electronic stability control. The system includes: an anti-lock brake system, traction control, yaw control, and a vehicle motion roll sensor.

TOYOTA YARIS FEATURES:

Toyota has 3 different trim levels for the 2010 Toyota Yaris. As stated on the Toyota website, they include the 3-door liftback, 5-door liftback, and sedan.

The Yaris has many standard features and special packages. Some of the standard features include:

TOYOTA YARIS SPECIAL PACKAGES:

In addition, Toyota has a variety of packages that can be put on a vehicle such as the All- Weather Guard Package, Convenience Package, Power Package, and Sports Package. The All-Weather Guard Package includes a larger window washer tank with low-level warning lamp, a heavy-duty heater, a heavy-duty starter and a rear heater duct. The Convenience Package has an excellent entertainment package that includes an AM/FM CD player with MP3/WMA playback capability, an auxiliary audio jack, satellite radio capabilities and a CD text display function. For increased functionality there is also a 60/40 split fold-down rear seat and 15 inch steel wheels with full wheel covers. The Liftback model has a sliding/ reclining feature and a rear window wiper. The Power Package is an extension of the convenience package. This package has power door locks and power windows with driver's auto-down, power outside mirrors, engine immobilizer and a remote key less entry system. The Sport package is the ultimate package on a Toyota Yaris. HONDA FIT SPECIAL FEATURES:

Unique to the Honda Fit is Mugen accessories. Mugen is typically known for after market accessories. Fit owners can choose from a dozen Mugen accessories to add to their Fit Sport. Exterior accessories that can be chosen include: 16-inch alloy wheels, aluminum oil filler cap, front sports grille, front under spoiler, side spoiler, rear under spoiler, or sports silencer. Interior accessories that can be chosen include: quick shifter, shift knob, sports pedals, sports floor mats, or mirror cover.

FORD FIESTA V. HONDA FIT V. TOYOTA YARIS ESTIMATED MILES PER GALLON:

With the varying gas prices and environmental concerns, getting better gas mileage has become a focus in new vehicles. All three vehicles get excellent miles per gallon ratings. According to the Ford Motor Company website the Ford Fiesta gas mileage is 29 City and 40 Highway. Toyota reports that the Toyota Yaris gas mileage is 29 City and 36 Highway. While Honda states their Honda Fit gas mileage is 28 City and 35 Highway.

The 2011 Ford Fiesta ranks 1 out of 30 on the US News Rankings and Reviews website. This ranking is based on an analysis of 12 published reviews and test drives of the Ford Fiesta, and the US News Rankings and Reviews analysis of reliability and safety data. The Fiesta gets high marks from almost every reviewer who has driven it because it offers things many other small cars lack: a fun driving experience and a comfortable, upscale cabin. The Fiesta has features rarely seen in the Small / sub-compact Car class, from available heated seats to Ford's SYNC system to an airbag for the driver's knees.

In comparison to the Toyota Yaris and Ford Fit, the Ford Fiesta is smaller and has a higher sticker price. However with the high price more options and safety features are included. All in all, this vehicle is good for someone that is looking for a vehicle in the sub-compact segment that has style, interior quality, driving dynamics and fuel efficiency.

TOYOTA YARIS REVIEWS:

The 2010 Toyota Yaris ranks 27 out of 30 on the US News Rankings and Reviews website. This ranking is based on an analysis of 67 published reviews and test drives of the Toyota Yaris, and the US News Rankings and Reviews analysis of reliability and safety data. The Toyota Yaris is a good value due to its superb fuel economy and comprehensive safety features. It has minimal engine power, yet many reviewers believe it is fun to drive. As an added bonus it has a “Euro” design that is unlike any other sub-compact vehicle on American roadways. Plus, it has not been a part of any of the Toyota recalls.

Compared to other leaders in the sub-compact segment it has a bare cabin, an awkward driving position, and a centrally-located dashboard. Thus it tends to have a hard time competing with other sub-compact vehicles.

HONDA FIT REVIEWS:

The 2010 Honda Fit ranks 2 out of 30 on the US News Rankings and Reviews website. This ranking is based on an analysis of 67 published reviews and test drives of the Honda Fit, and the US News Rankings and Reviews analysis of reliability and safety data. The 2010 Honda Fit has many good reviews and is known for its innovative storage options, its large list of available features and excellent engine power.

However, recently the 2007 and 2008 Honda Fit models have been a part of a recall on a faulty window switch. According to Honda, if the switch gets wet, it could cause a vehicle fire. Seven fires have been reported in the United States. Newer models are not affected by this recall. Other setbacks include that the sun visors are not big enough and the front seat is a tight fit for taller drivers.

How do recalls work?

Hello friends,
The automotive industry has been very busy as of late and many recalls were released recently, most famously of course the large Toyota recall. Some of you may be wondering what exactly is a recall? How do recalls work/happen? Who pays for recalls? Where can I find information on recalls? I tried to outline those questions in the following.

What is a recall?

In terms of the automotive industry, recalls occur when a motor vehicle experiences a safety-related defect or does not comply with federal motor vehicle safety standards. (This information was gathered from recalls.gov).

How do recalls work/happen?

A recall occurs when a vehicle has been made with a defect and it is discovered. When complaints are received by you the consumer, the National Highway and Traffic Safety Administration [NHTSA] begins an investigation on the issue with that specific year/make/ model of a vehicle. Investigators perform a detailed technical analysis of the issue using all available information. There is no set number of complaints that make a recall occur. In fact, it depends on how many vehicles of that make/model/year are having that issue and the severity of the consequences if that issue occurs frequently. If the NHTSA believes the data indicates a safety-related defect exists, the manufacturer is asked to conduct a recall. If the manufacturer does not initiate a recall, the government can order the manufacturer to do a recall.

Who pays for recalls?

If a safety-related defect exists in a motor vehicle or an item of motor vehicle equipment, the manufacturer must arrange for the vehicle to be fixed at no cost to the owner. In most cases of a recall the vehicle owner must take the vehicle to an authorized service center, i.e. a Chevy vehicle must be taken to a Chevy dealership etc. A dealership normally pays all costs up front on the recalls so the vehicle owner does not have to wait for reimbursement then the dealership submits reimbursement to the manufacture.

Our Heiser Automotive Group Preps Plus Winners

One of the things I enjoy about being a part of Heiser Automotive Group is that I get to meet many wonderful people in the community. Recently I had the opportunity to award the Heiser Preps Plus scholarship to Emily Peterson of Nathan Hale High School, and Kyle Manske of Wauwatosa East High School. These two young adults have many accomplishments and I am honored to have had the opportunity to have met them and to have Heiser help them further their educations.

These two winners were selected based on the following selection criteria:

Demonstrates involvement in school and/or community activities.
Demonstrates academic success.
Demonstrates a unique need or special situation.

We are proud of both Emily and Kyle's accomplishments and involvement in both school activities and in the community. We are excited to see them further their education, and wish them great success in their future endeavors. Congratulations Emily & Kyle!

So Chrysler now has a sticky pedal recall?

So Chrysler now has a sticky pedal recall? According to USA Today's website, “Chrysler is recalling nearly 35,000 2007 Dodge Calibers and Jeep Compass SUVs worldwide to fix potentially sticky pedals.” In fact this is the same issue that prompted the recall on more than 2 million Toyota vehicles this year. These vehicles use the same pedal assembly from the same Indiana supplier, CTS Automotive.

In other automotive news, I recently read about a new vehicle that some students from the University of South Australia built. This vehicle is called the “Trev.” It can do 0-60 in 10 seconds and has a top speed of 75mph. This vehicle is a sight to see. I highly recommend taking a look. It is not a very stylish looking vehicle, but its design is for a good purpose. It is a two-seat renewable energy vehicle. It is a smaller vehicle that can haul 2 duffel bags too. According to the article, the car will operate for just $0.0146 cents US per mile and because it uses 1/5 the energy consumed by a conventional motorcar, it leaves a dramatically lessened environmental impact.

In reading this article it makes me think about the future of the automotive industry. Vehicles like the Toyota Prius and Ford Fiesta are just the beginning. Who knows, maybe someday in the future vehicles like the “Trev” will be an everyday occurrence on our roadways? The possibilities are endless and I look forward to seeing what new makes and models come into the main stream of the industry.

In the begining...

Welcome to the Heiser Automotive Group and my official blog. My name is Mary Ann Scaffidi, and I am very excited to have the opportunity to write to our automotive fans throughout Southeastern Wisconsin. Here at Heiser Automotive Group as well as the automotive industry, a lot of new and exciting things are occurring. Through this blog I would like to discuss these current events. Also, I invite you to post replies to what I write on my blog as well as any questions you have about the automotive industry. This blog is for you, so please join in the conversation.

What a great holiday weekend it was! Memorial Day weekends in Wisconsin cannot get much better than this last one. It was a great time to take a cruise in the car with the windows down and spend time with family. I enjoyed doing both. Another great past time that occurred this weekend was going to the Brewers' game. I know on Sunday our Business Development Center here at Heiser Automotive Group went together for an office tailgating experience. Our staff here at Heiser is quite close and tends to go do things together a lot. I hope some of you were able to go enjoy the nice weather at Miller Park, despite their lose to the New York Mets on Sunday. However that is what is great about Wisconsin; win or lose, Wisconsin sports fans are always there for their home team.

In automotive news, I recently read some more about the much anticipated 2011 Ford Fiesta. This vehicle is going to be a great asset to the Ford line-up and all of us at Heiser are looking forward to its arrival. In fact, according to our Ford salespeople we have had people order them already at both our Heiser Ford Lincoln Mercury and Heiser Northpoint Ford locations.

The article that I recently read was on Kelley Blue Book's website under reviews. It discussed how the Ford Fiesta was named number one on the top 10 coolest cars under $18,000. The criteria they used to decide the subjective “cool factor” included: safety, fuel economy, interior size, comfort, and technology as well as the twin factors of fun-to-drive and fun-to-own.
